Radcliffe Hardin County Democrat. Born May 25, 1921, at State Center, Iowa, the son of Walter and Clara Oehlsen. Graduated Story City High School and attended State College of Iowa, Cedar Falls, for one year. Married Esther Knutson of Radcliffe, Iowa, January 11, 1941. Owned and operated a variety store at Radcliffe for 15 years and now engaged in farming. Served four and one-half years with the 34th Infantry Division. Took part in the African and Italian campaigns. Honorably discharged July 4, 1945. Presently serving in the Iowa National Guard with the rank of captain. Served as post commander of the American Legion for four terms. Nineteen years continuous membership in Post No. 317, American Legion at Radcliffe. Member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Radcliffe. Former mayor of Radcliffe. Serving first term.
