Bayard District 56 Democrat Born July 25, 1930, near Blairsburg, son of Jimmy and Lula Gilson. Graduated Guthrie Center High School 1949. Attended Iowa University, Iowa Wesleyan College, University of Kansas, and B.S. Degree from Northwestern Missouri State University, 1958. Served in the United States Air Force during Korean Conflict. Married Shirley Jean Mason, 1954. Children: Richard, Kirby, Janel. Member: American Legion, VFW, ISEA, NEA, Iowa Football Association and United Methodist Church.
