The House met pursuant to adjournment at 8:50 a.m., Speaker pro
tempore Sukup in the chair.
Prayer was offered by Dr. James R. Newby, pastor of Plymouth
Congregational Church, Des Moines.
The Journal of Wednesday, January 19, 2000 was approved.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Leave of absence was granted as follows:
Carroll of Poweshiek, until his arrival, on request of Rants of Woodbury.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 2060, by Murphy, Greimann, Warnstadt, Richardson,
Frevert, Bukta, Holveck, Mascher, Falck, and Mertz, a bill for an act
relating to educational standards and waivers for school districts and
accredited nonpublic schools.
Read first time and referred to committee on education.
House File 2061, by Reynolds, a bill for an act making a standing
appropriation to the school budget review committee to provide school
transportation assistance aid to certain school districts.
Read first time and referred to committee on appropriations.
House File 2062, by Hahn, a bill for an act relating to
responsibilities of a guardian in procuring professional services for a
ward with a physical or mental disability which do not require prior
court approval.
Read first time and referred to committee on judiciary.
