  Senator Szymoniak asked and received unanimous consent that
  action on amendment S-5807 to House amendment S-3465 and
  Senate File 253 be deferred.

  HOUSE MESSAGES RECEIVED

  The following messages were received from the Chief Clerk of the
  House:

  MADAM PRESIDENT:  I am directed to inform your honorable body that the
  House has on April 22, 1998, amended and passed the following bill in which
  the
  concurrence of the Senate is asked:

  Senate File 2068, a bill for an act concerning the method by
  which cities pay the medical costs incurred by members of the police
  and fire departments of cities who are injured while on duty (S-5816).

  ALSO:  That the House has on April 22, 1998, passed the following bill in
  which the
  concurrence of the House was asked:

  Senate File 2225, a bill for an act to legalize the proceedings of
  the board of directors of the Sigourney Community School District to
  sell certain school district property and providing effective and
  retroactive applicability dates.

  INTRODUCTION OF RESOLUTION

  Senate Concurrent Resolution 121, by Freeman, a concurrent
  resolution recognizing National Organ and Tissue Donation
  Awareness Week, designating the month of May as Organ Donation
  Awareness Month in the state of Iowa, and encouraging citizens of
  the state to complete organ donor cards.

  Read first time and referred to committee on Rules and
  Administration.

  The Senate stood at ease at 9:25 a.m. until the fall of the gavel for
  the purpose of party caucuses.

  The Senate resumed session at 11:09 a.m., President Kramer
  presiding.
