  The Senate met in regular session at 9:14 a.m., President Kramer
  presiding.

  Prayer was offered by the Honorable Nancy Boettger, member of
  the Senate, Shelby County, Harlan, Iowa.

  The Journal of Tuesday, April 21, 1998, was approved.

  IMMEDIATELY MESSAGED

  Senator Iverson asked and received unanimous consent that
  Senate Files 2332, 2418, and House File 2269 be immediately
  messaged to the House.

  Senator Hedge took the chair at 9:22 a.m.

  HOUSE AMENDMENT CONSIDERED

  Senate File 253

  Senator McLaren called up for consideration Senate File 253, a bill
  for an act relating to the practice of veterinary medicine and
  providing a penalty, amended by the House in House amendment
  S-3465 filed April 10, 1997.

  Senator Iverson offered amendment S-5807, filed by him on April 21,
  1998, to House amendment S-3465.
