  have passed the Senate and the title was agreed to.

  House File 597

  On motion of Senator Tinsman, House File 597, a bill for an act
  relating to school attendance by applying school attendance
  requirements under the family investment program, and providing a
  civil penalty for truancy, applicability provisions, and an effective
  date, substituted for Senate File 453 and deferred on April 9, 1997,
  was taken up for consideration.

  Senator Vilsack withdrew amendment S-3431 filed by him on
  April 8, 1997, to pages 1, 2, 5 and 6 of the bill.

  Senator Tinsman offered amendment S-3418 filed by Senators
  Tinsman, et al., on April 8, 1997, to pages 1-6 of the bill.

  Senator Vilsack withdrew amendment S-3427 filed by him on
  April 8, 1997, to amendment S-3418.

  Senator Kibbie withdrew amendment S-3439 filed by him on April
  9, 1997, to amendment S-3418.

  Senator Hammond asked and received unanimous consent that
  action on amendment S-3418 be deferred.

  Senator Szymoniak offered amendment S-3474 filed by Senators
  Szymoniak and Vilsack from the floor to pages 3 and 5 of the bill.
