  1  1    Amend House File 635, as passed by the House, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 17 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Sec. ___.  Section 724.2, Code 1997, is amended by
  1  6 adding the following new subsections:
  1  7    NEW SUBSECTION.  8.  A resident of this state, who
  1  8 possesses an offensive weapon which is a curio or
  1  9 relic firearm under the federal Firearms Act, 18
  1 10 U.S.C. ch. 44, solely for use in the official
  1 11 functions of a historical reenactment organization of
  1 12 which the person is a member, if the offensive weapon
  1 13 has been permanently rendered unfit for the firing of
  1 14 live ammunition.  The offensive weapon may, however,
  1 15 be adapted for the firing of blank ammunition.
  1 16    NEW SUBSECTION.  9.  A nonresident, who possesses
  1 17 an offensive weapon which is a curio or relic firearm
  1 18 under the federal Firearms Act, 18 U.S.C. ch. 44,
  1 19 solely for use in official functions in this state of
  1 20 a historical reenactment organization of which the
  1 21 person is a member, if the offensive weapon is legally
  1 22 possessed by the person in the person's state of
  1 23 residence and the offensive weapon is at all times
  1 24 while in this state rendered incapable of firing live
  1 25 ammunition.  A nonresident who possesses an offensive
  1 26 weapon under this subsection while in this state shall
  1 27 not have in the person's possession live ammunition.
  1 28 The offensive weapon may, however, be adapted for the
  1 29 firing of blank ammunition."
  1 30    #2.  Title page, line 1, by striking the words "to
  1 31 consider" and inserting the following:  "relating to
  1 32 weapons and munitions by considering".
  1 33    #3.  Title page, line 2, by inserting after the
  1 34 word "force" the following:  "and relating to the
  1 35 possession of curio or relic firearms by members of
  1 36 certain organizations".
  1 37    #4.  By renumbering as necessary.
