         The Senate met in regular session at 9:14 a.m., President pro
    tempore Bisignano presiding.

         Prayer was offered by Candy Boucher, Catholic Campus Minister for
    Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, who sang Amazing Grace.

         The Journal of Wednesday, April 10, 1996, was approved.



                           INTRODUCTION OF RESOLUTION

         Senate Resolution 114, by committee on Rules and Administration, a
    senate resolution honoring Iowa State University track and field
    coordinator and former head mens cross country coach Bill Bergan on his
    retirement.

         Read first time and placed on calendar.



                             ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION

                               (Regular Calendar)

         Senator Horn asked and received unanimous consent to take up for
    consideration Senate Concurrent Resolution 118.

    Senate Concurrent Resolution 118

         On motion of Senator Szymoniak, Senate Concurrent Resolution 118, a
    concurrent resolution recognizing the outstanding work of the employees
    of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services of the Department
    of Education and commemorating the 75th anniversary of vocational
    rehabilitation services in Iowa, with report of committee recommending
    passage, was taken up for consideration.
