1 1 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY SZYMONIAK
1 3 A Concurrent Resolution recognizing the outstanding
1 4 work of the employees of the Division of Vocational
1 5 Rehabilitation Services of the Department of
1 6 Education and commemorating the 75th anniversary of
1 7 vocational rehabilitation services in Iowa.
1 8 WHEREAS, the Iowa Division of Vocational
1 9 Rehabilitation Services was created on June 1, 1921,
1 10 through the enactment of the federal Civilian
1 11 Rehabilitation Act of 1920; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the mission of the Division of Vocational
1 13 Rehabilitation Services is to work for and with
1 14 individuals who have disabilities in order to assist
1 15 those individuals in gaining employment and achieving
1 16 independence and economic success; and
1 17 WHEREAS, services provided by the Division include
1 18 vocational counseling, job placement, education, and
1 19 processing of disability applications; and
1 20 WHEREAS, in the 75 years vocational rehabilitation
1 21 services have been provided in Iowa, the Division has
1 22 assisted over 100,000 Iowans with disabilities to
1 23 secure gainful employment; and
1 24 WHEREAS, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
1 25 Services provides assistance in each of Iowa's 99
1 26 counties through its 46 area offices and service
1 27 units; NOW THEREFORE,
1 28 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF
1 29 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, That the Iowa General
1 30 Assembly honor the Division of Vocational
2 1 Rehabilitation Services and its many past and present,
2 2 capable and caring employees for their outstanding
2 3 assistance to Iowans with disabilities during this,
2 4 the 75th anniversary of vocational rehabilitation in
2 5 Iowa.
