                               BUSINESS AND LABOR

         Pursuant to Senate Rule 59, the committee on Business and Labor
    assigned to investigate the following governors appointment, completed
    its investigation on March 21, 1996, and made no recommendation:

         David D. Knock as a member of the Public Employment Relations
    Board.



                  PLACEMENT ON INDIVIDUAL CONFIRMATION CALENDAR

         MR. PRESIDENT: Pursuant to Senate Rule 59, I hereby request that
    the name of M. Sue Warner to the Public Employees Relations Board be
    removed from the En Bloc Confirmation Calendar and placed on the
    Individual Confirmation Calendar.

    SMALL BUSINESS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND TOURISM

    Final Bill Action: HOUSE FILE 2234, a bill for an act relating to
    exempting certain nonresident aliens from land ownership restrictions.

    Recommendation: AMEND AND DO PASS AS PROVIDED IN AMENDMENT S-5514.

    Final Vote: Ayes, 14: Hansen, Judge, Zieman, Bennett, Boettger, Borlaug,
    Giannetto, Kibbie, Maddox, McKean, Palmer, Sorensen, Szymoniak and
    Vilsack. Nays, none.  Absent or not voting, 1: Flynn.

    Fiscal Note: NOT REQUIRED UNDER JOINT RULE 17.
