Senate Journal: Page 672: Saturday, March 11, 1995

         Mr. OKeefe addressed the Senate with remarks about the similarities
    between the Iowa and the Irish farmers. He stated that Ireland is
    dependent on Iowa soy, corn and grain products to assist in combating
    shortages in Ireland. He noted that three generations of Irish
    immigrants have brought the tradition of hospitality to Iowa.

         Senator Kibbie introduced the following Irish Dancers present in
    the northwest gallery:

         Brooke Jones, Joanne McNally, Eryn Mehan, Denise Stafford, Erin
    Wentzel, Margy Jo Wentzel, Rachel Lowman, Amanda Brown, Katie Orr,
    Melissa Jones, Christy Rouse, Laura Fog, and coach Kelly Vanosbree.



                           BILL ASSIGNED TO COMMITTEE

         President Boswell announced that Senate File 354 was assigned to
    the committee on Human Resources.



                                     RECESS

         On motion of Senator Husak, the Senate recessed at 9:25 a.m., until
    2:30 p.m.
