William W. Wilson
Pottawattamie County
William W. Wilson was born in Pennsylvania on November 15, 1824. He moved to Iowa and had his residence in Council Bluffs. He was elected to the lower chamber of the 9th General Assembly (1862-1863) from Pottawattamie County. Wilson served in the Civil War in the 29th Iowa Regiment. He was appointed quartermaster on October 1, 1862, mustered out on December 1, 1862, and resigned on August 22, 1864. The 29th Iowa Regiment has some claims upon the attention of the people of Council Bluffs. It was here that this fine regiment of soldiers was organized at Camp Kirkwood from material gathered throughout western Iowa from the stalwart yeoman of that region. In 1871 he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, and was a banker. He served as treasurer of the Nebraska Historical Society.
