Born about 1816 in Ohio. He married Malvina Adelia Carpenter on September 25, 1849. The family moved from Ohio to Chickasaw County, Iowa, then to Carthage, Missouri. Mrs. Carpenter graduated from Oxford College for Women. Dr. James Wilson was a medical doctor and helped to found the Congregational Church in New Hampton, Iowa. He was the first Chickasaw County Superintendent in 1869. He was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives for the 9th General Assembly (1862-1864). He died on May 20, 1884 in Carthage, Missouri.
