John Kern
Warren County
For the past quarter of a century a resident of Norwalk, and highly esteemed by a large circle of acquaintances, died at his home yesterday at the age of 56 years. He served in the war of the rebellion, where he attained the rank of major. Major Kern was at one time a member of the, Iowa legislature, a prominent Mason and a leading and influential member of the Methodist church. That he was popular at home is evidenced by the fact that though he was a strong democrat he was twice elected treasurer of Warren County, and once by a majority larger than that received by any republican.
