Born February 2, 1819, in Pennsylvania, and died November 11, 1880, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He was married to Susanna Everhart Hesser (1825 - 1905). They had two children: Charles H. Hesser (1853 - 1898) Rebecca F. Hesser (1868 - 1931). Frederick Hesser was partner in a tin, stove and hardware house of Hesser & Hale. The business was always conducted on Front street, and was probably, the oldest tin, stove and hardware firm in Iowa.
