She is involved with the Community Education Association. As a member of the Waterloo City Council, she is council liaison to the Waterloo Community Development Board, Downtown Main Street, and Waterloo Commission of Human Rights. Received the Networking Together State of Iowa Women of Achievement' Award and the '2000 Human/Community Services' Award from the Greater Waterloo Chapter of Black Social Workers. Member of the Antioch Baptist Church. One son. Serving first term in House.
