Senate assistant minority floor leader, 1979-1983. Assistant majority floor leader, 1983-1985. Designated majority leader in 1985; re-elected Senate majority leader and will serve in that role through the 74th General Assembly. Vice chair: Iowa Legislative Council, Senate Committee on Rules & Administration. Served 2 terms in Iowa House. Term: Eighth.
