Graduated from Bedford, Iowa Community High School, 1965; Northwest Missouri State University, B.S., 1969; Northwest Missouri State University, M.S., 1973; additional graduate work, University of Iowa and Western Illinois University. Married Chris Burks, 1966. One son, Todd. High school teacher of government and American history at Keokuk Community High School. Former chair of Lee County Democratic Party; former officer of Lee County Mental Health Board. Member: Keokuk Education Association; Iowa State Education Association, National Education Association.
