Wife, Elizabeth, a public school teacher; son, Jason; daughter, Amanda. Previously Chairman House Labor and Industrial Relations Committee, 1983-84, and Chairman House Human Resources Committee, 1985-86. Three terms in Iowa House. Chairman, Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Rights. First term.
