M.A., University of Iowa, 1973. Social studies teacher at Washington Middle School, Clinton. Married Joyce Carlson, 1965. Sons: Jeffrey, born in 1970, and Eric, born in 1971. Member: Zion Lutheran Church, American Lutheran Church, United Teaching Profession, Clinton Branch of NAACP, Common Cause, finance program chairman of Clinton County Democratic Party, 1980-82; past president and chief negotiator for Clinton Education Association, past president of Clinton Jaycees.
