Born August 14, 1931, in Mason City, son of Norman and Aletta Norland. Graduated from Kensett High School, 1949. Attended University of Northern Iowa, 1949-51. Farmer since 1951. Part-time tax consultant, 1962-72. Married Donna Kingland, 1951. Three sons, one daughter and two grandsons. Charter member, Worth County Extension Council; past president, Kensett Lions Club; former chairman, Worth County Democrats. Member, Elk Creek Lutheran Church. Father was a member of the Iowa House during 1940s. Majority leader, 70th and 71st General Assemblies. Seventh term.
