B.S. in Political Science from Tennessee State University, Nashville, Tennessee, 1971. J.D. from University of Iowa, 1974. Appointed Iowa assistant attorney general, 1974; appointed executive director, Iowa Civil Rights Commission, 1976; appointed Iowa assistant attorney general, 1980. Member of Iowa Bar Association, Polk County Bar Association, Board of Directors, Des Moines branch NAACP. First term.
