Born in Birmingham, Ala., on January 31, 1942, son of Lucille (Donovan) and the late Frank B. Deluhery. Attended Davenport schools. Graduated in 1960 from Assumption High School, Davenport. Graduated in 1964, B.A. (with honors) from the University of Notre Dame. Graduated in 1967, B.Sc. (Econ.) (with honors) from the London School of Economics. Married Margaret Morris in 1973. Daughters: Allison, Norah and Rose. Catholic. Legislative assistant to U.S. Sens. Harold Hughes and John Culver in Washington, D.C., 1969-75. College teacher since 1975 in the Department of Economics and Business Administration, St. Ambrose College, Davenport. Elected faculty chairperson in 1977. Elected assistant minority leader of the Senate for the 69th General Assembly in 1981, and assistant majority leader of the Senate for the 70th General Assembly in 1983. Elected to the Iowa Senate on November 7, 1978; re-elected on November 2, 1982.
