Born March 9, 1944, Fort Madison, son of Ralph and Selma Junkins. Graduated Central Lee Community High School in Argyle, 1962. Attended Iowa State University in Ames. Married Linda Decker, 1963. Daughters: Kristina and Kara. Small businessman and farmer. Member: Montrose Presbyterian Church, Montrose Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Lions, Elks, Eagles and Jappa Lodge 136. On advisory board of Lee County Youth Services Inc.; National Council of State Legislators, Legislative Leaders; assistant majority leader, 1976-77; minority leader, 1978-79; and re-elected minority leader, 1980-82. Elected Senate majority leader, 1983-84. Third term.
