Born October 1, 1820 in Montgomery county, Ohio. He studied medicine and was admitted to practice in 1840. After fifteen years be removed to Lyons where he since resided. He was elected state senator in 1857, a remarkable coincidence being that his two brothers were each elected senators at the same time in other districts. He was appointed postmaster in 1864. He was also closely identified with early railroad construction in this part of the state. He was formerly a proprietor of the Lyons Lumber Co. He is survived by his wife and children.
