Graduated from State College of Iowa with B.A. degree in 1955. and M.A. degree in 1956. Additional work towards Ph.D. degree in political science at University of Iowa, Taught political science at Drake University Community College, 1962, and at the now defunct Charles City College during the 1967-68 school year. Farmer. Married Barbara Ann Speicher: five children, Lee, Wendy. Robin Lynn, Michelle Marie, and Jay Charles. Member of Farm Bureau, State and County Historical Societies, Pi Gamma Mu, Kappa Delta Pi, Masonic Lodge. Member Baptist Church. Serving seventh term.
