Graduated from Elkader High School in 1929. Married Lola Hanson at Elgin, Iowa, in 1934. President of the Iowa Creameries Association, Ames, Iowa. Director on the executive council of National Milk Producers Federation, Washington, D.C. President of the Clayton County Commission Company at Elkader, and a director of the Central Dairy Co-op Creamery at St. Olaf, Iowa. Served for six years as Clayton County Democratic chairman. Member of the Farm Bureau and Masonic Lodge and is a member and past Trustee of Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader. Third session in general assembly.
