Davenport Republican 17th Senatorial District Scott County. Born in Davenport, Iowa, August 21, 1925, son of Walter and Flora Schroeder. Educated in the public schools of Davenport, and attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport. A graduate of the law school at Drake University. Chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of General Life of Iowa Investment Company and General Life of Iowa Insurance Company. Married and the father of two children: Sandra and Walter. Served in the U.S. Navy Air Forces for three and one-half years. Member of the Masonic Lodge, Zerapath Consistory, Kaaba Shrine, Davenport Junior Chamber of Commerce, Elks, Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity, American Legion, and a member of the Lutheran Church. Served two terms in Iowa house of representatives. Now serving sixth session in the senate. Majority leader of senate in 58th General Assembly.
