Sioux City Woodbury County Republican. Born May 30, 1911, in Waukegan, Ill. Educated in public schools of Presho, S.D. Received B.A. degree from Huron College, Huron, S.D.; M.A. from the University of South Dakota; and had one year in law school at the University of South Dakota. Taught economics at Waldorf College, Forest City, Iowa, and at Morningside College, Sioux City. Insurance salesman and chartered life underwriter. Member board of regents, Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D. Active member of Chamber of Commerce and Life Underwriters Association. A Mason, member of farm bureau and Lions Club. Active in Lutheran Church. Married Charlotte Ritland of McCallsburg, Iowa, June 30, 1937. Four children: Karen, Paul, Charlene and Mark. Serving second term. Member Commission to Study the Court System of Iowa.
