Attended Napier consolidated schools and graduated from Iowa State University in agricultural economics in 1943. Served three years in the army and air force during World War II. Married Ruth Todnem of Mankato, Minn., May 14, 1944, and is the father of four children: John, 14; Barbara, 12; Bruce, 11; and Todd, 9. Operates a farm and a seed corn business in Boone County, near Kelley. Member of the Collegiate Methodist Church in Ames, the American Legion, also the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, Shrine. Serving fourth term.
