Cyrus Franklin

Born in Highland, Ohio, on August 9, 1822, to Anthony Franklin and Mary Nelson. He passed away on February 17, 1885, in Osceola, Missouri. Cyrus married Maria Ferneau on November 18, 1847, in Highland, Ohio. He was in the Mexican War and then came to Agency, Wapello County, in 1848. He was the local adviser in the pioneer town and was one of Ottumwa's first marshals. He was a former Iowa state legislator and attorney. Cyrus Franklin became a colonel for the 2nd N.E. Missouri Cavalry for the southern confederacy. After the Civil War he was an attorney in Memphis, Tennessee, and Springfield, Missouri.
