Born June 25, 1821. During the war he was made Colonel of the Eight Iowa Cavalry. He was a lawyer of marked ability and had occupied numerous civil positions of honor. He represented Scott county in the Sixth Iowa General Assembly, 1846. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
