Irwin Shelby County Democrat. Born in Irwin, Iowa, Dec. 31, 1903. Youngest son of Peter and Emma Boldt Steenhusen. Graduated from Irwin Consolidated School and began his business career as a boy in the hardware store established more than 75 years ago by his father, a German immigrant and financier, now deceased. Married Mildred Humphreys Aug. 30, 1931. Two children: Peter, married, a navy veteran and partner in the hardware, feed and seed, furniture and appliance businesses with his father in Irwin; Mrs. Sally Bailey, wife of a Congregational minister in Vermont. Owns 240 acre farm in Crawford county. Has always taken active part in civic affairs. An elder in the Church of Christ at Irwin and served as chairman of the church board for many years. Serving third term.
