Attended Napier consolidated schools and graduated from Iowa State University in agricultural economics in 1943. Served two years in the army and air force during- World War II. Married Ruth Todman of Mankato, Minn., May 14, 1944, and is the father of four children: John, 12; Barbara, 10; Bruce, 9; and Todd, 7. Operates a 240-acre farm and a seed corn business in Boone County, near Kelley. Member of the Collegiate Methodist Church in Ames, the American Legion and the Boone County Extension Council, also the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, Shrine. Serving third term.
