Graduated from Iowa State Teachers College with B.A. degree in 1955, and M.A. degree in 1956. Working on Ph.D. in political science at University of Iowa. Married Barbara Ann Speicher; two children, Lee, 6 and Wendy, 3. Member of Farm Bureau, State and County Historical Societies, Pi Gamma Mu, Kappa Delta Pi. Attends Baptist church. Serving first term.
