Graduated from Simpson college in 1925, State University of Iowa law school in 1928. County attorney of Warren county, Iowa, 1929-1932. Practiced law in Indianola, Iowa, from June 1928 to present date. Married Betty Gay, February 15, 1930. Three children, J. O. III, Richard and John. Member of First Presbyterian church of Indianola, Masonic lodge, Lions club, Iowa State Bar association (life member) and American Bar association. Member of board of governors of Iowa State Bar association. Member of Des Moines club and Des Moines Philatelic society. Served as chairman of Warren county Republican central committee for many years. Serving first term in legislature.
