LOUIS L. KOPRIVA

MR. SPEAKER: Your committee, appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character and public service of the late Honorable Louis L. Kopriva, begs leave to submit the following memorial:

The Honorable Louis L. Kopriva was born July 18, 1888, at Pocahontas, Iowa. He died May 30, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 64 years.

He attended Sacred Heart and the public schools.

On February 9, 1915, he was united in marriage with Barbara Peters at Laurens, Iowa. One daughter was born to this union. She is Mrs. Eldred Johnson of Pomeroy. His wife died May 18, 1943.

Louis Kopriva farmed northwest of Pocahontas until his retirement in 1946. He also sold liability insurance for the past twenty years.

The Honorable Louis L. Kopriva had a life-long interest in politics. and civic affairs. He served as a member of the Sherman township school board and as township trustee. He also assisted in the organization of the AAA in Sherman township. He served Pocahontas county as a Representative in the Fifty-third General Assembly of the Iowa State Legislature. He was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of the Bishop Heelan Assembly.

Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Fifty-fifth General Assembly of Iowa, That in the passing of the Honorable Louis L. Kopriva, the state has lost a valued and honored citizen, and the House would tender its sincere sympathy to the surviving members of his family in their sorrow.

Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
