GLENN E. ROBINSON

Mr. Speaker: Your committee, appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character, and public service of the late Honorable Glenn Eugene Robinson, begs leave to submit the following memorial:

Glenn Eugene Robinson was born November 27, 1903 in Earlville, Iowa. He graduated from Earlville High School and later from Lenox College in Hopkinton. He was married to Opal Hucker on June 4, 1938. They had no children.

Mr. Robinson was admitted to the bar in 1936 and practiced law in Earlville and Colesburg prior to moving to Manchester, where he practiced for thirty-five years. He was a member of the Iowa Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Mr. Robinson entered the Marine Corps in 1944 and was assigned to the Dutch Advocate Department as orderly to General Court Marshall of the Fifth Naval Reserve District of Norfolk, Virginia.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was past commander of the American Legion, past Noble Grand of IOOF, member of Rebekahs, past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, thirty-second degree Mason, Night Templer, Shriner, past presiding officer of all York Right Bodies, past Worshipful Master of the Manchester Lodge No. 165 AF and AM, one of the founders of the Delaware County Historical Society and was active in many other civic organizations.

A Republican, Mr. Robinson represented Delaware County in the Fiftieth, Fiftieth Extraordinary, Fifty-first, Fifty-second, Fifty-second Extraordinary, Fifty-third, Fifty-fourth and Fifty-fifth General Assemblies.

He died on December 5, 1982 in Rochester, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Opal, who resides in Manchester; one brother, Archie Robinson of Delhi; three sisters, Elsie Custer and Alberta Kula of Phoenix, Arizona, and Edna Robinson of Manchester.

Now Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventieth General Assembly of Iowa, That in the passing of the Honorable Glenn Eugene Robinson, the State has lost an honored citizen and a faithful and useful public servant, and the House by this Resolution would express its appreciation of his service.

Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House, and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
