Joseph Arnold Brown

Born January 24, 1807, in Kent, Rhode Island. Joseph Arnold married Hannah and had two children, Charles and Cafrey. His family moved to Bloomfield Township, Clinton County around 1840 from Ohio. His occupation was listed as farmer, millwright, brick mason, and carriage maker. He served Clinton County as a representative in the 5th General Assembly (1854-1855). The Iowa newspaper the Jackson Sentinel reported on April 28, 1881: Joseph A. Brown, formerly of this city, at Little Rock, Arkansas, died April 1, 1881, at the age of 74 years. Mr. Brown will be remembered by all old citizens as one of the early settlers of this valley.
