Fremont County Republican. Born in Allegany county, Maryland in 1873, son of Francis and Jessie (Henderson) Kerr. Moved to Nebraska at the age of five years and attended public schools and graduated from Lincoln Business College in 1896, and in 1902 graduated from the Omaha medical college department of the University of Nebraska. Located in Randolph in 1902 and subsequently engaged in the practice of medicine and surgery. Served as mayor of Randolph eight years; also was president of the school board. Member of the Masonic, I.O.O.F., Knights Templar and the M.W.A. lodges. A member of the county, state and American Medical Association. Married to Lulu Dodd (now deceased) in 1903. Has one son, William Hawley, a physician and surgeon, Hamburg, Iowa. Married to Mabel Fichter, April 4, 1937. An acting elder in the Presbyterian church. Serving second term in legislature.
