Des Moines Polk County Republican. Born two blocks from the State Capitol in Des Moines, on March 25, 1906, son of A. O. and Elizabeth Hauge. Always resident of Des Moines. Graduated from East Des Moines high school in 1923. Attended St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., 1923 and 1924; State University of Iowa 1925 to 1930; received B.A. and LL.B. degrees in 1930. Musician on Dollar Steamship liners in 1926, 1927 and 1929; spent winter of 1926 in China. Practiced law in Des Moines since 1930. His father was a member of the House of Representatives from Polk county in the 38th, 39th, 40th and 40th extra sessions. Past president of the Polk County Junior Bar Association; 1st Lt. in Coast Artillery Corps, Reserve; member of the Lutheran church; Reserve Officers Association; Masonic bodies; Kiwanis Club; East Des Moines Club and American Federation of Musicians. Operates farm in Story county. Married to Rose Marie Hansen, Des Moines, July 31, 1936. Serving first term in legislature.
