Representative from Calhoun county, was born in Pocahontas county, Iowa, on a farm near Fonda, in 1882. He received his early education in the rural schools of Pocahontas county, graduated from the Fonda high school and completed a commercial course at the Northern Indiana Normal Training School. He returned to Calhoun county, Iowa, in 1900 where he married Bessie A. Moore and they have a daughter, Mary. Mr. Whitney has served as cashier of the Somers Savings Bank of Somers, Iowa, for the past twenty-five years. He has been active in local community affairs, is a member of the county school board and also a member of the Methodist church. His fraternal affiliations include the Masonic and I. O. O. F. lodges. Serving his first term in the legislature. A democrat.
