Representative from Appanoose county, was born in Monroe county, Iowa, August 14, 1871, and was educated in the schools of Monroe and Appanoose counties, and Reno county, Kansas. Was married to Ella Beatty of Moravia, October 22, 1891, who died March 2, 1935, and he has one daughter Edna M., wife of C. C. Coulson, of Moravia. Served as mayor of Blakesburg, Iowa, and as mayor, councilman, treasurer, clerk and school secretary of Moravia. He is now engaged in the insurance, real estate and loan business at Moravia, and was one of the pioneers in the independent telephone business, good roads movements and farmers institutes. Owns and operates a farm near Moravia, member of the Masonic order. Serving his first term in the legislature. A democrat.
