Representative from Van Buren county, was born February 13, 1900, on a farm in Lee county. He lived on a farm until he was twenty-one years of age, when he went into business with his father. Later he became manager of a farmers' cooperative exchange, and after a few years, manager of a lumber yard. He received his education in the public schools, the Pulaski high school and the Fort Madison business college. On June 20, 1933, he was married to Alice Marie Tomlinson of Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He belongs to the Christian church, is a member of the church board and for the past seven years has been superintendent of the Sunday school. He is a member of the Keosauqua commercial club and when elected representative, was treasurer of the Keosauqua independent school district, treasurer of the Van Buren county T.B. association and secretary and treasurer of the Keosauqua brotherhood. In 1930, he was elected county auditor, which office he held for four years. He is serving his first term in the legislature. A republican.
