He attended the public schools and was married in 1897. Spent two years in a general store in Shelby county, Iowa, returning to farming in Adams county, Iowa. He has served as a member of the county board of supervisors, also deputy sheriff of Adams county. Is a member of the Masonic and Royal Arch orders. Serving first term in the legislature. A republican.
