Representative from Winneshiek county, was born on a farm at Rumpus Ridge, Fayette county, Iowa, August 8, 1902. He was educated in the local rural schools, graduated from New Hampton high school and attended Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls. In 1933 he entered newspaper work as a feature writer. He traveled extensively throughout North America as a contributor of features to newspapers and magazines. He was formerly of the adjutant general's office, war department, Washington, D.C. During his newspaper career he has been associate editor of the Decorah Journal, at Decorah, Iowa. He spent four years in publicity work for corporations in the southern half of the United States and has been actively identified with sports promotion. In 1934 he developed Niagara cave on the Iowa-Minnesota line and at present is engaged in publicity work in connection with it. Serving his first term. He is unmarried. A democrat.
