HARRY S. LOVE

MR. PRESIDENT: Your committee, appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character and public service of the late Harry S. Love, begs leave to submit the following:

Harry S. Love was born August 9, 1888. He lived on a farm until twenty-one years of age at which time he moved to Bridgewater, Iowa, where he engaged in the produce business. He was educated in the rural and Bridgewater schools.

On August 23, 1913, he married Miss Ethel McDermott.

He was a member of the Masons, served on the city school board for twenty years, several years on the city council and as a township trustee. He served three terms in the House of Representatives and was elected to two terms in the Senate. In 1944 he resigned from the Senate to accept an appointment from Governor Robert D. Blue to the State Board of Social Welfare. He served six years on the board as member, vice-chairman, then chairman.

Mr. Love died Sunday, July 23, 1961. In addition to his widow, Mr. Love is survived by Hildreth Firch of California, Beverly Moser of California, Jean Dewey of Florida, Larry J. Love of Wisconsin, nine grandchildren, one sister and one brother.

Therefore, Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Sixtieth General Assembly: That in the passing of Harry S. Love the state has lost a valuable, loyal and honored citizen, and by this resolution tenders its sincere sympathy to the members of the family.

Be It Further Resolved: That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the Senate and that the Secretary of the Senate be instructed to forward an enrolled copy to each member of his family.
