Received his education in the country schools; taught school four years; served as member of the board of supervisors six years; served as mayor of the city of Albia eight years. Is married and has three children. His occupation is that of a farmer and live stock dealer. Elected representative in 1920, re-elected in 1922, 1924, 1926, and 1928. A republican in politics.
