Representative from Monona county, was born in Platteville, Wisconsin in 1871. He came to Monona county, Iowa, in 1875. Received his education in the common schools until he reached the age of seventeen years, was then left to his own resources, both of his parents having passed away. Married Miss Effie Miller in 1896, who died January 8, 1929. They were the parents of four sons. He and his family have resided in Onawa for the past twenty-five years. He has held various offices, among them that of county sheriff for seven years. At the present time he is a member of the Onawa board of education; president of Monona, Harrison, and Crawford county fair circuit; president of Monona county farm bureau and treasurer of Monona County Mutual Fire Insurance Association; secretary and treasurer of the Illinois Central Elevator Company. In politics he is a democrat.
