Representative for Jasper county, was born December 18, 1877, at Morning Sun, Iowa. Graduated from the Letts High school 1895, and from the Iowa State Teachers' college in 1903, then taught school for three years. In 1906 he entered insurance work as assistant general manager for the Homesteaders of Des Moines, severing his connection with them in 1911, after which he purchased the Baxter New Era which he now publishes. Married on January 28, 1906, to Bertha E. Hull of Carlisle, Iowa, and has one son, Frank, born in Des Moines, August 25, 1909. Elected representative in 1918 and 1920. Republican in politics.
